AAOGF welcomes Dr. Melissa Frey, Dr. R. Tyler Hillman, Dr. Annie Leung and Dr. Molly McAdow as its newest scholars. Dr. Frey received the 2023 ABOG/AAOGF Scholar Award, Dr. Hillman received the 2022 GOGF/AAOGF Mentored Physician-Scientist Award, Dr. Leung received the 2022 AAOGF/ABOG Scholar Award and Dr. McAdow received the 2022 SMFM/AAOGF Scholar Award.

The AAOGF and the Foundations of ABOG and SMFM seek to identify future academic physician leaders in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology and to stimulate their scholarly development, through the support of advanced scientific training. The Scholarship Award is to be used in an academic Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the United States or Canada to provide research training and experience for a candidate of proven ability who exhibits significant talent, original thought and evidence of dedication to an academic career. Research training may focus on basic or translational research, disease pathogenesis, clinical diagnostics, interventions and prevention, or epidemiology.

Angeles Alvarez Secord Installed as SGO President, Honored with Prestigious Award, at Annual Meeting on Women’s Cancer

Duke Cancer Institute Gynecologic oncologist Angeles Alvarez Secord, MD, MHSc, was installed as president of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) at the 2023 Annual Meeting on Women’s Cancer. In addition to being welcomed into her new role at the meeting, Dr. Secord was presented with the Best Clinical Science Award for the abstract titled “Genomic Alterations, Molecularly Targeted Therapy and Race: Real World Data from the Endometrial Cancer Molecularly Targeted Therapy Consortium.” READ MORE

Rimel Appointed Medical Director for Cancer Clinical Trials Office at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center

AAOGF Scholars Publish in American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology

Current scholars Jacqueline G. Parchem, MD and Courtney D. Townsel, MD, MSc along with Sarah A. Wernimont, MD, PhD and Yalda Afshar, MD, PhD have published an article in the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Rajkovic Elected to NAM

Aleksandar Rajkovic, M.D., Ph.D., was elected to the National Academy of Medicine as announced on October 19, 2020. Dr. Rajkovic was an AAOGF-RSDP Scholar from 1999-2002 when he was at Baylor College of Medicine. READ MORE
